We take vintage telephones, turn them into public recording stations, and set them down in places you already pass through.
Pick up the receiver and it asks you one question, then records your answer. One of us listens to every tape, and the ones you let us keep go onto a permanent public shelf anyone can search.
Saying it out loud does something for you. Psychologists call it capitalization: put a good thing into words and you get a second dose of it, past the event itself.
Stopping to notice counts too. People who pause over their small moments end up more satisfied with their lives than people who let them slide past. A full night’s sleep. A kitchen that finally works. A plate of eggs worth describing.
That is what the phone is. A pause your day was not going to hand you. And it is a receiver instead of a person on purpose: alone with a dial tone, you skip the performance and just say it. Someone does hear it. Just not while you are talking.

Which recordings get played, visits per day, roughly where in the world, whether people come back, and where the controls confuse them. Listeners are counted as a scrambled code that names nobody and cannot be turned back into a person, and it resets every few months, so nothing follows you for long. No cookies, no accounts. .
